One of the cornerstones of our strategy is the accountability of our members to an independent ombud process. If any of our members are guilty of unethical behaviour, recourse is provided through the UE Ombud.
Complaints may be lodged with the Ombud against any member who fails to abide by the following Code of Conduct:
Members will be honest and ethical in all their business dealings. This means that members will, inter alia:
- refuse to elicit, accept or pay any bribes, and encourage their partners, suppliers and associates, etc. to do the same;
- negotiate and award all contracts with integrity;
- take no part in price fixing, collusion, fronting or misrepresentation of their business credentials and/or contributions to transformation;
- pay their taxes; and
- pay reasonable salaries and wages and pay it on time.
