UE were represented by Dr Graham Power and Patrick Kuwana at the Christian Economic Forum that was hosted in Durban in July. It was the first time this international forum has been held on the African continent and attracted 85 leaders from 23 countries. The purpose of the forum is to bring together leaders from around the world to share practical solutions, insights and best practices to economic problems. The CEF was founded in 2011 with a vision to offer the excellence, scholarship, community, and impact of the World Economic Forum but with the foundational purpose of elevating God’s economic principles, which offer the only real answer to the world’s economic issues.
Graham presented a paper on “Biblical response to the destructive power of corruption” and also sat on a panel discussion on Global Solutions.
Patrick presented a paper on ‘‘The hope and future of economic transformation on the African continent’’ and also sat on a panel to discuss African based economic solutions. His paper was later awarded the best white paper of the conference.
